The Stanley Hotel, known for its architecture, was built by F.O. Stanley (the Stanley Steamer) in 1909. It is said to be one of America’s most haunted hotels, and may be best known for its inspirational role in Stephen King’s novel, The Shining. Stephen King stayed at the Stanley while writing his novel.
